Happy Easter

Happy Easter all, and if you don’t celebrate Easter, Happy Spring.

It was certainly and interesting weekend. Katie surprised me on Thursday night in the middle of a CS 2 debugging session. Luckily she didn’t mind hanging around while we fixed the code. My original plan was to spend Friday and Saturday with Katie and spend Sunday by myself. Sometimes I find being “lonely” very relaxing, it allows me to focus, and.. with the right mindset.. I can get a whole lot of work done.

But instead I went with Katie to the Easter festivities. Her parents gave me a very nice basket full of Easter goodies, and Katie also gave me some wonderful Easter treats. I didn’t expect anything, so now I have to get them something good in return, hrm. Any ideas?

Also, I had the plague this past week, its almost better. I found being sick very not fun, it made thinking difficult. I was still able to finish most of my work on time (Diff Eq got postponed until tomorrow) but yeah, I went through several boxes of tissues and took several naps. I’m not getting in the habit of napping though, that is a bad thing.

This week I hope to push through some digital signage code, which is much needed. Tomorrow I find out how lucky I am in the room selection process, eek. I hope I’m slightly lucky!

Alas, something is begging of my attention. I’m not sure what, but working on it is the way to go.

April Fools

I was thinking of starting this blog off like “OMG Guess what.. so and so has offered me a job doing xyz” but I decided that was a very lame way to start off a blog. So far no April fools jokes have been played on me, unless this sore throat is a joke, I wish.

I have a sore throat, I’m not sure if its from Kevin or Katie. Either way its probably from Kevin as Katie attributes him as the source of her illness. I would classify my illness as a cold, currently just a sore throat. I cleaned every inch of my room that I could in an effort to reduce the chances of me getting worse. Every now and then my stomach gets upset and tipsy, but nothing I can’t handle. It might be related to the fact I’m drinking tons of water/tea. I dunno if it will work or not but I’ll keep everyone posted.

Slow internet

The internet is going to slow for me at the moment, I’m trying to download 3 movies, and none of them are coming. Since I think that you should pay for movies, at least most of them, I rent most of mine from Amazon Unbox, its a pretty neat service. Usually things go moderatly fast, a few megabytes/sec which is reasonable. Tonight I was getting “Hollywood Land” at around 3 mb/sec, I got about 15% downloaded and started watching it, of course I watched faster than it downloaded and now I’m waiting. It slowed to a crawling 1mb/sec which is awful for a 2.25gb file. Yuck!

I’m also trying to get my hands on another movie, but the torrents are slow as well. Who is stealing all the bandwidth around this place? Luckily the potential viewer is taking a nap so there isn’t any frustration, but I paid 3.99 for Hollywood Land, I expect a decent download time.

Its wierd, at such a technological “high speed” place, there seems to be no High speed place for news, I was expecting some website to contain the elections results soon after the election but that site is illuding it, it would have been more effective for the RPI TV website to post the results. The only way I found my limited knowledge out was by reading facebook, and even that doesn’t have any complete data on it.

Grr.

I should stop interacting with the internet in an effort to save a few kilobytes in bandwidth. If I felt I was using all my “port” in the wall was allocated I would look into a multi-wan solution, but that doesn’t feel like the case. If it is.. well I’ll get on that.
